Hey guys- today is going to be amazing. The image below will show an ad running on a targeted YouTube video. I want to show you how to do this.

I am going to give you some of my secret sauce to help you in your video marketing efforts. In my humble (but accurate) opinion…

One of the big problems with TrueView ads is that they can be blasted all over the place and waste away your money. This has a huge effect on your ROI. It’s a problem, but a fixable one. It takes a bit of strategic thinking and monitoring to get a great ROI from Google YouTube ads. Google wants you to spend money and it is their job to drain your account as fast as you will let them.

I see it all the time on YouTube.

Millions of dollars wasted on irrelevant ads.

Video ads that have nothing to do with the video that I am watching.

And my favorite- a video ad that is running a disclaimer for the first 10 seconds. Who is going to watch that? (They should fire their agency)

It’s more like a boring commercial break.

Nobody actually clicks on the ad.

Nobody actually values your service, your video, or creativity.

It’s like acid to our eyes. We see a video ad pop up and we are looking for the skip button that presents itself in 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1….Skip Ads!

I have a better way, and I am going to show you exactly what I do to create amazing TrueView ads. Imagine looking for a particular service and you come upon a YouTube video. When you click play, an advertisement pops up for the exact thing you are looking for. We want to create these types of ads.

Ads that get a high click through rate.

Ads that actually provide conversions. (Meaning, they sign up or request more information about your services)

Ads that will pop up on your competitor’s channels, videos, and/or website.

And better yet…ads that provide actual leads. (People who are interested in your product who become amazing customers)

So, let’s get started.

Step Number 1. Create a Compelling Video

Do you have a video? If not, you better stop now and contact Ydraw. Get a video that will stand out and not bore the audience. This is important.

Step Number 2. Setup Your YouTube Account

Now that you have a great video from Ydraw, uploading it to YouTube is simple.

Go to www.youtube.com/signup and enter in the information they’re requesting. It’s Free. You will also want to set up a brand channel with information about your company. Here is a screen shot of Ydraw’s channel. Make sure you add a nice icon and place links that point back to your website and social media.

Create Your Youtube Channel With Links

  1. Upload your video
  2. Fill out the title, description, and tags
  3. Make your video public

Step Number 3. Setting Up the Video Ads

Once your video and channel are ready to go, you can now create some compelling TruView ads.

All YouTube campaigns are managed and maintained in Google Adwords. If you don’t have a Google Adwords account, you will need to head over to http://adwords.com and set up an account.

Step Number 4: Create Your Video Campaign

If you’re not sure how to do this, simply watch the tutorial video I have created below. When you are creating your video campaign, you will want to pick the video that was just uploaded to your YouTube account.

The nice thing about adwords is that you can see how the ads will look and if you mess up, you can always go back and adjust.

Click on the +Campaign tag and at the bottom you will find “Online Video.”

Step Number 5: Identify the Target Audience (Most Important Step)

This step takes a bit of an imagination and some strategic planning. I have found that the more specific you are, the better.

Don’t allow Google to dictate where your ads will appear.

Don’t allow Google to run through your budget and show your ads to anyone.

Do identify your target audience.

Do set your placements.

Do define the key words.

This is extremely important and you must take the time to get it right. This is where the money is made.

***Go to YouTube and find your competitor’s channels, videos, and locations. Place them in the placement tool and you will see where you can run your videos. Add them to the campaign. Watch the video below, or you can check out the screen shot to see what I am talking about.***

I hope this will help you guys get your YouTube ads up and running. Make sure you monitor the account for the first couple days. Once you start seeing the results, you can increase your budget and start scaling up.

Have a great day and good luck on your YouTube video ads.

If you like the material, go ahead and share it!
