Interactive Video Advertising Plus Your Story Equals Amazing Results

Interactive Video Advertising Plus Your Story Equals Amazing Results

Have you checked out the latest and greatest interactive video ads created by Ydraw?

If not, you should…

I have been running some video marketing test on YouTube to see what type of engagement I get with interactive video compared to other styles. First you might want to watch the video to get an idea of what an interactive video is.

Many of you know that I am a big fan of YouTube ads (trueview ads). I think they provide an amazing opportunity for you to get in front of your target audience at an extremely low price. Plus if you create the right video you can increase your engagement 10 fold. So let’s look at some numbers.

On February 18th I started a simple test and here are the numbers.

Interactive Video Ads on YouTube

Those numbers are looking awesome. I kept the budget extremely tight because I wanted to show you guys that YouTube ads do not have to cost you a fortune plus I wanted to restrict Google. You do not see these types of numbers with YouTube ads, but I did a couple of things differently.

1. I created an Interactive Video that would get my audience engaged.
2. I targeted my Remarking Audiences.

Interactive Videos

Trueview ads continue to supply more and more features that will drive YouTube visitors away from YouTube to your landing pages. You can use annotations, Overlay Call Out, Logo, etc.

Here is an idea

Lets assume you are going to be selling Dish Network or DirecTV. We all know how the game is played among sellers. If you have Dish Network, they will try and get you over to Direct. If you have Direct, they will try and get you over to Dish. We can use this to segment our audience and run them ads.

Step 1: Create a video that gives your audience a choice. Below is a simple example of what you can do to give you audience a choice. This is not a video, it is a simple gif because I didn’t care to create a whole video to show you (sorry, next time).

Dish-Network-Vs-Direct-TV-Interactive

Why would you want to do an add like this?

Because you do not want to pay for viewers who are not really interested in your product or service. When they see your add you want them to either click it or move on before 30 seconds hits. That way you are not charged.

Now if they click on your add and they choose DirecTV then you send them to a landing page that talks about Dish and the benefits they can get by switching…plus you put a remarketing pixel on there computer to run them more ads throughout the internet. This could be much more cost effective compared to Google PPC ads.

Step 2: Select the right target audience. For the interactive video ad I used the Remarketing feature. I had a small list built up from earlier views plus I let Google create similar audiences.

Remarketing Audiences

Which brings me to my next point.

Last week I had the chance to attend the Traffic and Conversion summit in San Diego. One of the “Big Ideas” was that 2015 is going to be the year of the pixel. Meaning that you need to start building audiences. In other words you capture and pixel as many people as you can. If you are going to spend the money to drive people to you website, why not put a cookie on their computer so that you can run ads to them later on.

It can be done on YouTube also. Basically YouTube will cookie anyone who has watched your videos. This allows you to run video ads to them later on. It’s cheap and very effective.

So there you have it…I hope you can see the big benefit to running interactive videos. So far the numbers have been amazing and we are just getting started.

5 Ways Scriptwriters & Advertisers Control Your Life And You Don’t Even Know It

5 Ways Scriptwriters & Advertisers Control Your Life And You Don’t Even Know It

Did you know that there are 5 Ways Scriptwriters, Marketers, and Advertisers Control Your Life And You Don’t Even Know It?

Scriptwriting and advertising is an art. Some are born with it, but most are not. You are about to learn why and how you can control the masses.

Have you ever wanted something so bad that it is all you can think about until you get it? This is common we all do.

Copy Writers know this and the good ones know the right way to structure their material to have you in full pursuit mode. You are basically eating out of their hands and you don’t even know it.

As for bad copy writers and marketers…They do not have a clue how to turn on the switch.

This goes for advertisers and marketers too. They can manipulate you to buy stuff that may or may not harm you.

For example

We all know that smoking can kill you and every smoker wishes they can quit, but the doesn’t stop them; nor does it stop cigarette companies. There is so much more going on behind the scenes. You’re being controlled a bit.

Have you ever wondered why you buy a certain product or service only to regret it a couple of days later? Or lets say you want a car and finally the day comes that you can afford it. For months every time you saw that car on the road something inside of you screams, “I want it, got to have it!” Then the day comes for you to finally pick it up. You wake up all excited because you are finally able to fulfill your desire yet within a couple of week the happiness has worn off and you are looking for your next big purchase. For some this is an addiction.

Do you ever wonder why two grown men with fight like little boys to get the girl?

Or do you wonder why you continue to do things that harm yourself like drugs, cheating, alcohol, overeating, sugar etc.

Here is your answer:

Dopamine, Oxytocin, Serotonin, Endorphins, and CortisolHappy Chemicals

The first 4 are happy drugs and the last one is not.

Let me explain.

We are going to use me for an example. I love massages and for the past 20 months I have received a lot of them. Vegas, Florida, Mexico, California, Arizona, Bahamas, Utah are a few of the places. I have gotten them at high-end spas, to dumps that are infested with diseases—or at least they look like they are.

Black women, white women, Asians, Mexican, Brazilians, old and young ladies have all had the opportunity to massage these bulging muscles.

Lucky them… (sorry, guys are not allowed)

Why do I like them so much?Happy Survival Motive

I just figured this out the other day. It is nothing but a huge chemical injection for me.

Think about

1. Dopamine kicks in and tells me that I need a massage. My body starts to crave it, so I start looking for a place or a therapist. I am now on the hunt, and the anticipation of getting a massage just releases more Dopamine. The sketchier the more Dopamine. (These are therapeutic only. I repeat Therapeutic only)

2. Once I get there and start to relax, dopamine is gone but the oxytocin and serotonin kicks in.

3. If it is a horrible massage, or the massage lady stinks, then I am so let down and I swear off massages for the month. Only to have the craving for another massage come a week later. What the crap? I’m way more discipline than this!

It is a vicious cycle that costs me a lot of money. The same goes with smokers.

1. They crave a cigarette and have a need. Dopamine is screaming at them

2. They go outside and start to smoke with another person who has that same problem

3. Oxytocin is released.

Here is the thing with smokers. A lot of times it is not the cigarette that they are addicted to, it’s the social aspect of smoking. (Oxytocin)

Smokers all belong to a club and can enjoy a nice smoke together, even if they are total strangers. They feel part of something, which is a need most of us have.

I’m telling you…this stuff is powerful!
So what does it have to do with writers and advertisers?

Think about it.

Chemicals control everything we do. It is all part of the genetic code and it is what keeps us alive. Scriptwriters know this, or at least the good ones do.

Dopamine – keeps you seeking what your body needs or craves.

Oxytocin – loves safety, touch and interaction with others. It’s the love drug.oxytocin

Serotonin – is the security of social dominance and loves respect from others. Think billionaires who continue to want billions.

Endorphins – mask pain and hurt. (Marathon runners are addicted to endorphins otherwise known as the “runners high”)

Cortisol – Makes you depressed and causes bad feelings. It is also what causes stress. “Do something feeling”

So lets look at this from a writer’s perspective and how to really manipulate your audience.

Most scripts are written like this in this format.

1. Headline or introduction
2. Problem, peril, or pain
3. Solutions, resolutions
4. Call To Action or Happy Ending

Think about it this way: Lets use chemical control.

1. Dopamine
2. Cortisol
3. Dopamine and Cortisol Satisfaction
4. Serotonin, Oxytocin

Do you get it?

The best Scriptwriters, movie producers, and advertisers all love messing around with your chemicals.

First, they capture you with an amazing headline and they start laying out the problem. They want to hit you with Dopamine and then start injecting Cortisol.

You’re not good enough – you need this – your dreams will come true – be part of our group – everyone is doing it – your life is bad – this product will fix it – do you want to be loved – we can give you power – people will look up to you –

[xt_blockquote author=”Loretta Graziano Breuning”]“When your cortisol flows, it links the neurons active in your brain at that moment. This wires you to recognize those danger cues in the future. When you feel a cortisol alert, your brain looks for a way to make it stop.” [/xt_blockquote]

Take that last sentence and read it again. “When you feel a cortisol alert, your brain looks for a way to make it stop.”

So once a writer has injected Cortisol into your system they will then provide you with a solution. Their solution is a way for you to get Serotonin, Oxytocin and Dopamine back into your system.

Now doesn’t that feel so good?

How does this apply to your business? Take a look at your material and see if it is fulfilling a need of your audience. Does your product or service provide Serotonin? (A way for them to feel important) Apple is a great example. If you have an Apple product you are part of something.

Does your customer service and experience give them a jolt of Oxytocin?

Do they anticipate your next email or product? (Dopamine)

If they do not buy your product or service are you injecting them with a bit of Cortisol?

Find ways to use these happy chemicals and I promise you sales will increase and your customer retention will also improve.

Happy day…

Let’s go get a massage.

How To Compete In PPC (pay-per-click) On A Small Budget

Small companies or startups are always looking for a way to compete against the big corporations that have thousands, if not millions of dollars to spend on PPC campaigns.

Lets say you only have a budget of $500 a month and your competitors have a budget of $500,000 a month. How are you going to be able to compete?

They are Goliath and you’re David. There is just no way to compete against Goliath.

Most of you know that David did win, but it wasn’t by facing Goliath with a sword and shield. He brought a sling, which is basically like a gun. He fought with brain…not brawn.

“The same misunderstanding happens in David vs. Goliath fights in business. Most fail to recognize the advantages an underdog brand has when it faces off against a competitor who has strength, size, and wealth. And that’s exactly why nimble, upstart companies, with their new solutions to old problems, often can best Goliaths.”

Inc magazine

This applies to PPC ads. You don’t have the budget so you have to be quicker, more creative, and extremely observant. You need to know what is taking place on your Campaigns.

Let’s take a look at Adwords.

If you have an extremely tight budget you have to be so selective. Most small businesses will run hundreds of keywords to their account. You can’t do this. It’s like going head to head with your competitors…Which is a bad idea.

Here is what you need to do:

1. Focus on a limited number of keywords
2. Watch it like a hawk (ad negative keywords)
3. Focus on a certain area
4. Create amazing ads. (this is a big one.)
5. Create better landing pages
6. **Use Facebook, YouTube Ads, and Bing (much less competition)**

1. Focus on a limited number of Keywords

Keyword research is the beginning of all ads. Lets look at the hotel real-estate industry.

If you want a chance to get some leads you have to go after long tailed keywords in certain areas.

“Find a home to purchase in Salt Lake City Utah” (long tailed keyword)

vs

“Real estate Salt Lake” (you’re going to get crushed)

What you lack in funds you have to make up in brains. Make sure to do your keyword research. It pays big dividends.

You can use the keyword planner tool or you can use other resources.

2. Watch your PPC Campaing like a hawk

Do not set and forget it. You have to make adjustments according to the results.

Example:

You might be getting clicks for “Real Estate Rentals.” You will need go into your account and add a negative keywords.

“Rentals”

You will also want to make sure you check your Ads often and see which one is producing the best results.

3. Focus on a particular area.

Even though you do business all around the globe you still need to focus in on an area. You do not have the budget to compete globally so you will need to compete locally first and then expand as revenues grow.

4. Create amazing ads.

Here is another place where you have to spend time. You can afford to be like everyone else because you can’t blow your budget. Every click counts.

Take a look at the ads below.

The first one shows you a bunch of ads. Everyone is the same.

Same old boring ads

These two stand out because they use everything that is available plus they add in a lot of numbers and symbols

Great Ad Copy

Amazing PPC add

5. Create better landing pages.

I wrote an entire article on landing pages so I am not going to go into it here.

http://marketinghy.com/2014/09/behind-perfect-landing-pages/

6. **Use Facebook, YouTube Ads, and Bing (much less competition)**

This is big…Really BIG

More often then not the best strategy is to not compete. Go elsewhere.

Facebook is way cheaper and it is only getting better. You can spend 10 dollars a day on facebook and get better results. Some of my campaigns are 1/10th the cost of Adwords.

YouTube is another one of my favorite avenues. It costs 9 cents a view and can get you a lot more traffic. Just last night I decided to rank a video for a long tail keyword.

It took me 10 minutes to hit page one of Google and the top spot of YouTube. Best of all…It was free to do. Check out the proof below.

Screen Shot 2015-02-12 at 10.05.17 AM

Bing is also another great source. Although it has less traffic it still produces results at 1/5th the cost of Google.

There you have it. If you have an extremely small budget you really should consider fighting the battle a little differently.

10 Ways to Win on YouTube This Year

10 Ways to Win on YouTube This Year

YouTube is the second largest search engine.  Start using it correctly and win big this year.

ReelSEO posted how to properly set up a YouTube series. Here are the 10 ways you will win on YouTube according to them.

1. Shareability

Make videos that connect to your audience on an emotional level. Give your videos value. Make sure they are related to topics that are important and people want to know about. Make sure they are something people are going to want to share with others. Something they find informative or funny, or better yet, both!

2.  Conversation

Internet users want conversation. Make sure you allow conversations, either on separate social media platforms or on your YouTube channel. Give users an area to talk about what they just watched or ask further questions. Make sure you can respond or others can answer their questions.  Make sure they feel heard and you’ll win their praise.

3. Interactivity

Be sure to give your viewers a voice. Ask them what they want. Do challenges they pose or informative videos based on what they would like to learn about from your company. This relates back to conversation. Give them a place to interact with you and then listen!  Develop a rapport with them.  Take a tip from Charlie Sheen today and start #winning with your audience.10-ways-to-win-with-youtube

4.  Consistency

Let viewers know what to expect and when to expect it. The most successful people put out videos once a week on the same day of the week.  Make sure you have a schedule in everything that you do with your company, your videos shouldn’t be any different. Make sure you have a consistent personality and voice in your videos. The same goes for formatting. Stay the same, or get better with your videos.

5.  Targeting

Make sure you are targeting and using YouTube analytics or a third party analytic platform. You need to be targeting viewers on a video-to-video as well as channel and show basis.

6.  Sustainability

This also goes with consistency. You need to be able to sustain certain levels within your videos. If you created a high quality with your first video, you don’t want your second video to look like someone recorded it off of an old iPhone. Make sure that you will have access to the same things or better things with your future videos.

7.  Discoverability

Your content must be searchable. You either need to focus on keywords that are popular right now, whatever is trending, or you need to focus on what are called “evergreen” terms. Evergreen terms are content that is always searchable and available to viewers. With the Internet saturated in videos, you need to make sure you are popping up first, and with the perfect keywords for your viewers and buyers.

8.  Accessibility

Each of your videos should be able to standalone outside of your series. The less context that is needed for each of your videos the more likely the viewers are going to come back. They will want to know what you have coming next week. They don’t want to have to go through your whole series to understand what you are talking about.

9.  Collaboration

Work with other content producers that are in your demographic if you can! You can gain new people that are interested in your product or company and you can cross promote. This can be a great thing to do with others, just make sure they are willing to promote you just as well. You want to make sure you will get just as much out of this as collaboration as they do.

10.  Inspiration

Be sure you are passionate about what you’re creating. It will help you keep up with the day to day menial tasks that we are forced to do. If you have a drive or passion for what you are doing, it will make these tasks seem less cumbersome and easier to do.

11. I’m adding in an eleventh.

Be authentic. Your audience will know if you aren’t being true to yourself. They are great at telling when someone is faking their way through something. So unless you are an Oscar winning actor, make sure you believe in what you are saying. Don’t endorse a product, opinion, or idea just because they are popular.

Some Call It Stalking, We Call It Amazing Marketing – How To Create a Creepy Marketing Campaign.

Some Call It Stalking, We Call It Amazing Marketing – How To Create a Creepy Marketing Campaign.

Instead of telling you what to do, I am going to show you what I did and how you can do it too.

It all began this last week when I attended the Start SLC conference up in Salt Lake City. The Conference was a jewel. In fact, it was so good I plan on going for years to come or at least until they let me be the keynote speaker.

I’ll invite you when that happens… 🙂

While sitting in the audience being inspired, I came up with a simple solution to land those big clients.

I have to admit that I am not much of a networker. When they have those networking parties, I will usually go grab a sprite and head back to the hotel.

I know…

It’s bad, but for some reason I never have liked the whole networking thing.

So…

While sitting in the audience listening to a speaker from Domo I came up with a couple of ideas on how to target a specific company or a specific person with a customized ad. I decided to target all the executives.

Why do you want this?

Imagine if you are a finance company looking to land that multi million-dollar client. If you could run a particular ad to that individual, don’t you think that would have an impact on their decision? Meaning you run a custom ad designed to land that one company.

You can also use it to set up a lunch appointment or speak with a company’s executives. It’s just a great way to get attention.

For this to work, you will need the following:

  1. Facebook ads (a Facebook account)
  2. YouTube Channel linked to your website
  3. Landing Page
  4. Adwords Account
  5. Remarketing pixels

Here are the Step To Become An Amazing Marketer A.K.A Stalker:

  1. You get the target’s info
  2. Build a customized ad
  3. The target sees the ad
  4. Goes to the landing page
  5. We cookie his machine
  6. Run him video ads on YouTube banner ads on other sites in the Google network

Stick figure Domo ad1

Step 1: Collect The Targets Info

For this to work you need to get the Target’s email address. You will upload the email address into Facebook. Facebook will then locate the Target’s Facebook Page.

I found the executives of Domo on LinkedIn, became their friends, and then exported my contact list.

You can also get them to like your Facebook page and start running ads to those who like your page.

Not a perfect system, but it worked.

Step 2: Build the Assets

1. Build a Facebook ad, a landing page, and a video.
2. Place a Remarketing pixel on the landing page. You can place a Facebook remarketing pixel and a Google remarketing pixel.
3. Embed the YouTube Video on the landing page. This is will be used for YouTube retargeting.

Step 3: Create The Ad

Jump onto your Facebook account and create the ad. Under custom audiences you we be able to upload the contact list.

Warning! You have to have a minimum of 20 people on this list. Facebook changed its guidelines a while back, but it’s really not a big deal. If your target is a male you can fill the rest of the list with females and select “Only Market to Male.”

Make sense?

I hope so because it’s not an easy task to pull this stuff out of my brain, but I do it anyway all in the name of sharing…☺

I actually uploaded all 2000+ Linkedin contact because I wanted to see if other people would click on the ad out of curiosity.

Like I said…not a perfect system but it works. You might have to have a broader audience, but we are paying such a small amount per click that it won’t matter if you run the ad to thousands of people. That’s what I did.

DOMO needs Ydraw 3

Step 4: Run It

Once the ad has been created it is time to let it fly.

Step 5: Generate a YouTube ad that is customized.

Picture this…

You’re on YouTube and you’re about watch your favorite One Direction Video. I say One Direction because just last night I found out my wife dropped $1300 for the whole family to go see them in concert.

It’s been a rough night…

Since your target has watched the video that was sitting on your landing page, you now can run custom pre-roll ads.

(If you do not know what those are, I will direct you over to another article. YouTube Pre-Roll Ads. http://marketinghy.com/youtube-preroll-ads-work-company-run-video-ads/ )

Once your target clicks on the play he gets a customized YouTube ad that speaks directly to him.

“Hey Don… We need to do business and I would like to take you out to lunch. What day works best for you? Click here to set up a time…I’m waiting Don!”

Creepy? Yes.

Funny? Absolutely!

Effective? Who could turn that down?!

Here is a good example of a YouTube video that is customized.

Quick Recap

1. Find the target and get ahold of his email address
2. Create a landing page and place your retargeting pixels on the page
3. Create an ad that speaks directly to the target
4. Turn on the ads and drive him to your landing page
5. Run a YouTube pre-roll ad that is customized for him

Questions?

I hope that helps and make sure to let me know if you try this out. There are a lot of people that would like to hear about your successful campaigns.

The Results…

So far I have had a good number of clicks and I have received a phone call from a guy that works with Domo. He tried to sell me on his product…

I have some fine-tuning to do, but I know I will get some results.
Have a great day and I look forward to hearing about your success

Hope you enjoyed

How To Create a Creepy Marketing Campaign. Some Call It Stalking We Call It Amazing Marketing.

How YouTube Autosuggest and Google Autocomplete Can Work In Your Favor

How YouTube Autosuggest and Google Autocomplete Can Work In Your Favor

“Does Autocomplete give you results?”

“Does it work for YouTube?”

“How long does it take and why do people charge so much?”

These are just a few of the questions I get asked about Autocomplete. It is kind of a new thing, and people really aren’t sure what to use it for. They are a bit skeptical and don’t want to just jump without getting some assurances.

It’s good to be skeptical, especially when it comes to Google and the latest SEO tactics.

So let’s chat about Google and YouTube Autocomplete…here’s the facts.

I first ran into Google autocomplete years ago when I noticed some negative reviews about a person. When you typed their name into Google you would see something like the following:

John Doe fraud
John Doe scam
John Doe business

Autocomplete can work in your favor, or it can work against you, but the nice thing is you can change it.

In time you can change the results to say:

John Doe business
John Doe reviews
John Doe insurance

This is just one benefit. If you have negative reviews on Google Autosuggest (also called autocomplete) it can be changed or adjusted with more favorable terms.

If you are trying to make a name for yourself, or if you are trying to run a nice business, you do not want negative results popping up in autosuggest. It’s bad news.

Google Autocomplete can also be manipulated in your favor. Meaning we can drive traffic using keywords.

Let me explain.

Here is something we did we YouTube Autosuggest. (if you haven’t noticed already, I am using autosuggest and autocomplete interchangeably. They are the same thing. I want to rank for both keywords so I am using both of them in this article. A different lesson for a different day.)

I wanted Google and YouTube to bring up my company name for the following keywords:

1. Whiteboard Video
2. Explainer Videos
3. Whiteboard Animation

Here are the results. (make sure you are searching in incognito mode)

Google autosuggest for Whiteboard Animation

Google autosuggest for Whiteboard Animation

YouTube autocomplete for Whiteboard Videos

YouTube autocomplete for Whiteboard Videos

YouTube autocomplete for Explainer videos

YouTube autocomplete for Explainer videos

As you start to type in the word explainer video, Ydraw gets suggested as one of the top picks. Ydraw is in the video business, so YouTube has worked amazingly well. You can check them out at ydraw.com

Obviously you will want to have a good video on YouTube.

I repeat…

If you want to dominate the YouTube Autocomplete, you have to make sure you have a YouTube Channel and some compelling videos for people to watch.

The Benefits…

Since video continues to grow year over year you should really think about a video marketing strategy.

Do you have an explainer video? If not…Get one!

Because the YouTube autosuggestion strategy could be a great way to get viewers.

Let’s assume you are in the financial industry and somebody is looking for investment advice. When they type in “Investment advice” they see your company’s name or your personal name pop up in the top spot.

“Investment advice John Doe”

You will get traffic, which mean more leads, which means more business and money.

As you can see, this is for YouTube. You can do the same thing for Google search, but it takes double or triple the effort.

Word of warning…

Google changes all the time. This is not a “one and done” type of strategy. You need to be persistent and consistent to make happen.

We do offer this type of service for all types of companies. Yinc saw the opportunity and had a machine/software created. We also have a network in place that conducts searches for us manually.

You can do this yourself if you and a group of people can dedicate a couple of minutes a day to conducting searches.

The more competitive the keyword, the harder the results.
